Using Essential Oils To Help Support Your Immune System.

The back to school season is upon us. Whether or your kiddo is just starting preschool or a senior. The threat of unwashed hands, runny noses, and sharing drinks and snacks with friends is a real struggle. Last year it seemed like all of the kids were sick all the time. I guess thats what happens when you have three under three and two in school. They brought home the yuck more often than was necessary.

I’m ready to combat the beginning of this school year though. Supporting your immune system, is very important because while you can’t control what other people’s kiddos do, you can help your kiddos be guarded. The list below isnt by any means a cure this is just to HELP support your families immune systems! A balanced diet, good hygiene and hydration are also going to be very helpful.

There are many options when it comes to using Essential Oils. There are diffusers, roller bottles, sprays, hand washes, and baths. In our house we use a few diffusers and also some homemade sprays. I love my diffuser from young living because it has an intermittent setting and can last up to 18 hrs! I have a different diffuser off of Amazon that I keep in my room and it is perfect! It lasts up to 12 hours depending on how strong you want the mist. I’ve also dabbled in making our own sprays. They help clear the air and smells amazing!

Young living also sells a whole mess of hand sanitizers and what not, I haven’t gotten around to trying any out yet, but if you have then please let me know! Here are a few of my favorite oils when helping support my families immune system.

Lavender – always and forever. Real talk here… I used to haaaaate the smell of lavender, then one day something just clicked! Lavender also helps support the respiratory system so it’s a double whammy!

Rosemary – I love this because it smells amazing! This oil is great in aiding respiratory health.

Frankincense – Almost always in my diffuser, because I love the smell of it, the girls think it smells like a barn, don’t care! Taken internally, like from the vitality line of young living, it can aid in immune support.

Theives – this oil smells like Christmas all year long! I clean with this stuff to help get all the germs off of surfaces. This oil is good for overall immune support.

Oregano – When I diffuse this it smells just as amazing as it does when cooking with the herb. There is a reason our grandmother’s add oregano to chicken noodle soup. It has plenty of benefits!

Lemon – the refreshing smell of lemon is a plus. This oil helps support the respiratory system. And also when mixed with Theives cleaner makes the house smell extra fresh!

Peppermint – is amazing when diffused, this also aids in respiratory helath.

Here is an immunuty blend that is often found in it diffusers:

15 drops lemon

10 drops Theives

10 drops oregano

10 drops frankincense

Here is a blend for supoorting respiratory health:

15 drops lavender

10 drops rosemary

10 drops peppermint

10 drops lemon

10 drops chamomile (I add the chamomile at night!)

When I made the air spray after a the flu ran it’s course a few months ago, I used a glass spray bottle, filled half and half with water and witch hazel. I used 20 drops of lavender 15 drops of peppermint, 15 drops of lemon and Clary sage. A glass spray bottle is important because the oils can break down in a plastic bottle.

Getting sick is inevitable, especially with kids in sports and school and hanging out with friends and having play dates. Even going to the grocery store this time of year can be a day ting task. Wondering what the last person had that touched the cart before you! If you haven’t suffered through multiple children throwing up all at once, or crying because of a sore throat and an ear ache, you may be judging me a little for the cart thing. These oils are going to be used through out the season to ensure our immune systems are top notch!
