Some super exciting news! I had no idea about this, there is finally a discount on Amazon for EBT card holders! This also applies to those who have Medicaid and TANF (temporary assistance for needy families). This is amazing because it allows those who are on state assistance to access Amazon’s vast prime inventory at a fraction of the cost of a regular prime membership! I know many people who are on state assistance that don’t have their own prime member ship because its too expensive, so they use someone else’s. This new discount takes that away and people can now have the freedom to have their own account! Click the link if you want to apply for the new Amazon discount
I have been on state assistance and I know how it is. Receiving food stamps, while super beneficial and helpful, can be rather embarrassing, especially when people stare into your cart at the store and say things like “I bet she is using food stamps”, or pulling out your EBT card with shame. Its not shameful at all. You are providing for your family the best way that you can. I received food stamps WHILE working for the school district and WHILE working for the city. The fact of the matter is, jobs don’t pay a whole lot, even with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, I wasn’t making enough to pay rent, all the bills, and still put food on the table, this was before Jacob and I moved in together.
SNAP is a way to buy food that is healthy for your family, without spending money out of pocket. The benefits are based off of the family’s specific needs and things like family size and income. Most states have a website, here is a link for SNAP Benefits by state. The website can guide you through seeing if you qualify and how to apply. I’m not promoting using the system or cheating it. But if you have a real need, don’t be ashamed, like I said I have been there and I know how it is.
We use Amazon Prime for a whole mess of stuff. That is actually how we got all of the girls’ school supplies for last year. How I did my Christmas shopping, and it is generally how we order most things. The deals are unbeatable, and they have special days and special sales for those who hold Prime memberships.
This new Amazon discount is $5.99 a month, with the regular 30 day free trial. A typical Prime membership costs about $12.99 a month, which used to be 10.99 a month! With the EBT discount you will pay $65.89 a year. I subtracted the 30 free trial! That’s like half the cost of a regular prime account. You will receive the same benefits as a prime account as well, streaming movies and TV, music, and a larger selection of books, two day shipping and an ass load of other things! Check it out! Its definitely worth your time!
